Proposal: Free TON informational websites

Type: contest

Contest dates

  • Submissions: 26.05.2021 - 26.06.2021 23:59 UTC
  • Voting: 7 days

Goal

Current contest is aimed to ensure the creative approach to covering Free TON news, events and personalities. The diversity of views, formats and opinions will greatly improve the informational field of the project.

Value for the community

There are just a few sites or blogs which cover the life of the community. Each of these publications have their own style, accents and focus - this is why they all have their readers. As long as someone can find the form of narrative that suits him/her, the ecosystem and the community itself grow.

If one creates interviews and covers only the key news of the network, should the community put him out of the race? If a group of people works on the educational side of blockchain technologies and Free TON in particular, should the community take away an opportunity from them to be heard and supported? The more forms the informational flows are designed, the richer the community will be - both in quality and in quantity.

Requirements

The submission should contain a link to a web resource and a short presentation. Publication should have the following parameters:

  • Type of media: website
  • Default language: English
  • Number of publications: 30 unique texts. Free TON related. Created within the contest entry period. (hard criteria)
  • Text minimal size: 1500 letters with spaces
  • Material type: any
  • Design: user-friendly
  • Internal SEO Optimization

Publications that have on-going financing by main or any of the sub-governances (on vesting terms included) or through partnerships cannot participate in the contest.

These criteria will allow high-quality transparent judging results.

Feedback is mandatory in order to collect any rewards.

1% of all contest funds will be allocated to Admin and coordination support of the contest.

I support this competition. Information sites are needed by the Free TON project. The conditions of the competition are real. 15 unique articles per month looks fine.

As important as creating the articles, if not more, is making sure they are seen/heard by the appropriate audience. Content with no audience is a tree falling in the woods. To that effect it’d be great to see some sort of KPI for viewership and engagement in this proposal as opposed to simply quantity of work.

I support this contest, it contains all the necessary components. Clear criteria, the possibility of entry for singles and newcomers. All components of the site are evaluated equally, I think many people will support such a well-developed competition!

Well-balanced and well-thought proposal.

I would love to see @SvetBauer pushing his interviews from telegraph/medium to a blog (wordpess or the like). Thus, Free TON will have its own medias and they can all be different.

It might be good to introduce 20/10 of FT-related/‘global blockchain’ news. Can bring extra organic audience from the search engines. Just an idea… From the other hand, Free TON will be the global news driver shortly.

The best offer! :100:
An excellent solution is to offer to evaluate every aspect of the future site (material, design, speed, etc.), which will allow us to work not on the number of publications, but on their quality.
Thanks to well-thought-out criteria, it will be possible to objectively and impartially evaluate each work!
Without a doubt, I fully support this proposal! :rocket: :rocket: :rocket:

To take 15 interviews in one month is a very large-scale job. It is impossible to make it to one or even two people. For example, judging by my interviews, they can be in the amount of 4000-10000 words (not characters!). In addition, I focus on video interviews, and to make a ready-made video attractive, you usually need to work on it for 3-6 hours.

Therefore, I would like to suggest making some adjustments to the competition criteria. For example, what if you make a requirement of the total number of words in the published content for a month, and not just the number of publications? And what if you make the minimum requirement, for example, 5-7 publications, but with a total number of words, which would be the equivalent of 15 publications.

Content in the form of interviews is usually very voluminous, let’s take this into account. It takes a lot of time to appear in a beautiful form.

I agree with you. But it’s worth noting that the KPI for viewership and engagement is a long-term story. The behavioral factors of the audience on a website are really important for SEO.

Pay attention to the requirements - Material type: any. You don’t have to do just interviews. Do 10 interviews and 20 informational articles. For example. If your interview engages the reader, people will also be interested in the articles that you add links to in these interviews.

But what if I’m not good at writing articles, but I want to focus only on interviews for now?

I think this competition is just able to unite people into teams and create a quality product. Someone is good at doing interviews, someone is writing, someone is designing sites. isn’t it great that this event brings people together?

We need to expand the possibility of publishing on any media resources, not only on FreeTON resources. This will allow you to reach a wider audience. We also need to review the prize policy. There were several contests where the prize money was awarded to the participants who scored a passing score. This is an ideal option for such contests.

Additional articles about bitcoin and other blockchains will be a useful addition for information sites.

I agree with you. The competition site must be published on different topics Free TON.

The project needs to attract many new people who learn about the project from media resources. Many people do not yet know about Free TON at all, and they will not search for information about it in the search.

To attract new users, you need attention-grabbing and useful reviews on sites. The topic of cryptocurrencies is still incomprehensible to many people, so they do not use them.

For the benefit of the Free TON project, articles are needed that mention “unobtrusively”, “these articles help users decide.” And no one is interested in interviews or Free Ton parties, because there is a lot of such content now.

I advise you to supplement the criteria for seo optimization of the text and separate criteria for the interest of people in the article. It is necessary to attract both developers and entrepreneurs.

Since all blogs about FreeTON are either part of sub-governments that can officially request a budget increase, or have been winners of contests and can offer partnerships. I propose an updated contest format.

Type:* competition

Dates of the contest

  • Materials: 26.05.2021 - 26.06.2021 23:59 UTC

Goal

The current competition aims to provide a creative approach to covering free news, events and personalities. A variety of views, formats and opinions will significantly improve the information field of the project.

Community Value

Friton is a global community, and its goal is maximum decentralization. Every member of the community is a part of it. In order for the maximum number of people to study and understand the entire structure of FreeTON, global media coverage is necessary. If we unite as a single community, it will be able to bring its idea and technology to the masses of people on the planet. Each of the members of the community is different, each has its own style. And everyone will be able to do something new for the benefit of the entire community.

If a person creates an interview and covers only the network’s key news, should the community take them out of the race? If a group of people is working on the educational side of blockchain technology and, in particular, Free TON, should the community deprive them of the opportunity to be heard and supported? The more forms of information flows are developed, the richer the community will be-both in quality and quantity.

It seems that you’re seeing this contest as something that it is intended to be.

Publications that have on-going financing by main or any of the sub-governances (on vesting terms included) or through partnerships cannot participate in the contest.

As I see it: this contest encourages FT community members to team up with the aim of creating new (!) media - blogs or news-sites. As these will be different editorial teams, the community will be having different sources of information that cover different aspects of FT life.

@SvetBauer it might be a great idea for you to join one of the participants of this contest (when/if it happens) offering your expertise in conducting interviews. It’d be a great case of team work within the community.

Organic traffic is a tricky thing - both for already existing sites and the new ones. And it’s even more tricky for the new - search engines should crawl them, add them to the search results, give rating of keywords etc.

In most cases, it can take up to 3 month for this invisible magic to start working.

But it might be a good idea to have a SEO competition when we have several blogs/sites running, say, in 6 months or so.

I’ve mentioned in one of my comments in this thread that some ‘general news’ (or guides) could be a great addition to a FT-related site as they can bring new audience. Thus, 20/10 concept might be a good idea, what do you think @Teiwaz?

And no one is interested in interviews or Free Ton parties, because there is a lot of such content now.

Can’t agree with the interview part. There are some out there already but they cover a very small part of very interesting people and topics in Free TON. At least, in my personal list
