Crystal Oscar Contest 2021: The 1st Free TON Award

Goal

An annual contest designed to appreciate the real contribution of the best members of the community. Awards for extraordinary people who showed themselves as brightly as possible in 2020 and made the greatest contribution to the development and promotion of Free TON.

Each nomination will get a specific tag (for example, #crystanalytics). One winner will be selected in each nomination (for each tag).

Implementation

In order to take into account the opinions of as many community members as possible, a working group of 3-5 people will be formed. The working group will be engaged in the preparation and implementation of the contest. Preliminary time for preparation, conducting and summing up the results will be 1.5 - 2 months.

The goal of the working group is to find truly worthy candidates from a wide range of the community and ensure the most transparent voting so that the community will choose the winners from them.

Winners’ Rewards

To qualify for the reward, a candidate must achieve the highest score in one nomination (for the tag of their submission).

Total rewards: 50,000 TON Crystals.

It will be evenly distributed among all the winners.

Stage 1. Selection of candidates

The task at this stage is to get a preliminary list of candidates who can apply for participation in any nomination. To do this, the working group uses the following algorithm:

1. Requests will be generated to the official groups of subgovernances (for the tag of each nomination) and to large chats. Thus, the working group will receive preliminary lists of candidates based on the opinion of people who directly understand the topic of the nomination.
2. The opinions of the community members will be collected in the contest forum thread. Be sure to indicate: the tag of the nomination in which you want to include the candidate, and the rationale why this particular person is worthy. Without a tag and justification, the candidate will not be included in the list of nominees.

Stage 2. List of nominees

Based on the opinions of competent community members and proposals on the forum, lists of 2-5 candidates in each nomination will be formed. With the number of 5 and more candidates in any of the nominations, polls are conducted in the profile groups in order to identify no more than 5. The candidates with the largest number of votes will be included in the final list of the nominees.

If several candidates receive the same number of votes, it is allowed to increase the number of candidates in any nomination up to a maximum of 6-8 people. The final lists will be published on the forum. The working group will send a recommendation for the preparation of a submission to each candidate from the lists.

Jury selection

The jury of the contest will be formed from the composition of the judges of the Free TON Governance and the panels of judges of all Subgovernances in force at the time of the launch of the contest. All listed judges will be included in the jury of the contest “automatically” without the need for any action on their part.

Submission requirements for nominees

After the formation of the final lists, each nominee will be sent a recommendation for the preparation of the submission (stage 2: list of nominees). A minimum of 7 days will be given to prepare the contest submission.

1. The header of your submission must contain:

• name (or nickname)
• tag (nomination) for which you are applying
• wallet address
• link to the profile on the Free TON forum
• telegram username

2. The main part of the submission can be filled in at will
3. The submission must contain confirmation of your work and contribution to the development and promotion of Free TON

Vote

Voting requirements

1. The judge must have a good level of knowledge in the nomination (nominations) to be judged.
2. The judge must review the submission of each nominee (uploaded in PDF format) and put marks according to the following principle:

• the judge can put only 1 maximum mark in each nomination (for each tag)
• the judge must put marks to all nominees of the same nomination
• if the judge puts 2 or more maximum (identical) marks in one nomination, then none of the marks will be taken into account (it will be considered that the judge did not vote)
• the judge must vote correctly (with 1 maximum mark) in at least 3 nominations

3. The judge can, but is not obliged to vote in all nominations
4. The judge has the right to be a nominee at the same time. In this case, he can only judge those nominations in which he is NOT a candidate. If the judge puts marks for the tag in which he/she is nominated, none of the marks will count (it will be considered that the judge did not vote).
5. Reward for judging will be paid only to those judges who voted correctly in at least 3 nominations (right marks are taken into account).
6. An amount equal to 10% of the total value of all total tokens awarded to contest winners will be evenly distributed among all judges who voted and provided feedback. Both voting and feedback are required to receive the award.

Budget

Winners’ Rewards: 50,000 TON Crystals
Reward for working group (3-5 people, 1.5-2 months of work): 5,000 TON Crystals
Reward for judges: 5,000 TON Crystals
Preparation of the contest proposal: 1% of the amount of awards to the winners (500 TON Crystals)

Total budget: 60,500 TON Crystals

Каждой номинации присваивается определенный тег (например, #crystanalytics). В каждой номинации (по каждому тегу) будет выбран один победитель.

Реализация

Для учёта мнений как можно большего количества членов комьюнити будет сформирована рабочая группа из 3-5 человек. Она будет заниматься подготовкой и реализацией конкурса. Предварительное время работы по подготовке, проведению и подведению итогов: 1,5 - 2 месяца.

Цель рабочей группы - найти по-настоящему достойных кандидатов из широкого круга комьюнити и обеспечить максимально прозрачное голосование, чтобы сообщество выбрало из них победителей.

Награды победителям

Чтобы претендовать на награду кандидат должен получить высший балл в одной категории (по тегу своей заявки).

Общая сумма наград: 50,000 TON Crystal
Она будет поровну разделена между всеми победителями.

Этап 1. Отбор кандидатов

Задача на этом этапе: получить “пул” кандидатов, которые могут претендовать на участие в какой-либо номинации. Для этого рабочая группа использует следующий алгоритм:

1. Формируются запросы в официальные группы сабгавернансов (по тегу каждой номинации) и в крупные чаты. Таким образом, рабочая группа получает предварительные списки кандидатов, основываясь на мнении людей, напрямую разбирающихся в теме номинации.
2. Собираются мнения членов комьюнити в ветке конкурса на форуме. Обязательное условие: тег номинации, в которую нужно включить кандидата, и обоснование, почему именно этот человек достоин. Без тега и обоснования кандидат не будет включён в список номинантов.

Этап 2. Список номинантов

На основании мнений компетентных членов комьюнити и предложений на форуме формируются списки из 2-5 кандидатов в каждой номинации. При количестве 5 и более кандидатов в любой из номинаций, в профильных группах проводятся опросы с целью выявить не более 5. Кандидаты, набравшие наибольшее количество голосов войдут в итоговый список номинантов.

Если несколько кандидатов наберут одинаковое количество голосов, допускается увеличение количества кандидатов в любой номинации до 6-8 человек максимум.

Итоговые списки публикуются на форуме. Каждому кандидату рабочая группа направляет рекомендации о подготовке заявки.

Выбор жюри

Жюри конкурса будет сформировано из состава судей главного Governance и составов судей всех Subgovernances, действующих на момент запуска конкурса. Все перечисленные судьи будут включены в состав жюри конкурса “автоматически” без необходимости каких-либо действий с их стороны.

Требования к подаче заявок номинантов

После формирования окончательных списков, каждому номинанту будут направлены рекомендации о подготовке заявки (этап 2: список номинантов). На подготовку конкурсной заявки будет предоставлено минимум 7 дней.

1. В “шапке” ваша заявка должна обязательно содержать:

• фио (или ник)
• тег (номинацию) на которую вы подаёте заявку
• адрес кошелька
• ссылку на профиль на форуме Free TON
• юзернейм в телеграм

2. Форма подачи остальной заявки - свободная
3. Заявка должна содержать подтверждение вашей работы и вклада в развитие и продвижение Free TON

Голосование

Требования к голосованию

1. Судья должен обладать достаточными знаниями в номинации/номинациях, которую/которые будет судить.
2. Судья должен рассмотреть представление каждого конкурсанта (загруженом в формате PDF) и выставить оценки по следующему принципу:

• судья может поставить только 1 максимальную оценку в каждой номинации (по каждому тегу)
• судья должен поставить оценки всем кандидатам одной номинации
• если судья ставит 2 и более максимальных (одинаковых) оценки в одной номинации - ни одна из оценок не будет учтена (будет считаться, что судья не голосовал)
• судья должен проголосовать корректно (с 1 максимальной оценкой) минимум в 3-х номинациях

3. Судья может, но не обязан голосовать во всех номинациях
4. Судья имеет право одновременно являться номинантом. В этом случае он может судить только те номинации, кандидатом в которых НЕ является. Если судья выставит оценки по тегу, в котором он/она номинированы, то ни одна из оценок не будет учтена (будет считаться, что судья не голосовал).
5. Вознаграждение за судейство будет выплачено только тем судьям, которые проголосовали корректно минимум в 3-х номинациях (учтённые оценки).
6. Сумма, равная 10% от общей суммы всех токенов, присужденных победителям конкурса, будет равномерно распределена между всеми членами жюри, проголосовавшими и предоставившими отзывы. Для получения награды необходимо как голосование, так и обратная связь.

Most of the potential candidates already got rewards for that work they are nominated for. Why we should reward somebody twice for same merits? Moreover pay additional fees for administrating that.

Such a contest should be performed on-chain. When the participants pay 1-100 TON to be a candidate in particular category (or categories). While the community is also voting with tons - 1 vote = 1 TON.

This can be a pretty cool concept to test while G2.0 is being developed and can show some real traction on the network and experiment with voting with TONs. It also can show how ‘no jury’ model might work when votes are coming from the whole community around the world.

The whole community vote can be fake, because anyone can create any number of addresses/wallets and thus “vote” for the desired candidate. That is why a model without a jury is bad.

Самый главный вопрос в чем смысл тратить людям по 1 тону за голос, в голосовании которое не приносит обывателю никакого профита? Я не против идеи массового судейства, но это работать не будет. Людям все равно на результаты работ которые не влияют на их положение социальное или материальное, это уже мной было проверено на примере донатов за стикеры (донатов было почти ноль). Тут надо ещё мотивацию прикручивать.

True that. But there are ways to create ‘light KYC’, e.g. connecting your forum profile to voting. Some models do exist.

My key point being - G2.0 is planned to use your own stakes as votes. It will also be a test. Thus, the more tests are made, the better G2.0 will work.

Plus, I do personally think that every participant should sign DoD on-chain. In any contest. And contest should have traction with network.

A forum profile is not a protection because anyone can register multiple accounts. In addition, the KYC requirement is contrary to the principles of Free TON.

Network traction is good and right, but it should NOT open up opportunities for fraud and vote cheating. There is no mechanic yet that can provide the necessary protection for the vote, other than the classic judging.

For example, create drive and unite the community. This is why major brands hold contests to rally their fans. Otherwise, they have no reason to waste resources and give away prizes for free. However, brands do this very often.

I’m surprised no one has seen this reason yet. For some reason, many people thought that the purpose of this contest was to distribute awards to those who had already received them. Not. Read my previous paragraph above.
