🧮 Contest for the development of the best mathematical model for the distribution of rewards in future Contest

Short description

Developing a mathematical model for the distribution of reward in contests, based on the rating of proposals. Model will be honest, fair, and resistant to “harmful” behavior.

Type

Contest

Starts: 1 December, 2020 at 01:00 PM UTC, Ends: 15 December, 2020 at 24:00 PM UTC

Problematic

One of the main problems is that when creating a competition, it is also necessary to come up with a law for the distribution of prize money fund between the participants, and for this it is necessary to predict the expected number of participants, as well as to assume the quality of their work. But since this is a “prediction”, it is always wrong a little(or a lot).

An example is even this contest, where in the discussion several times the question arose in what proportion to divide the prize fund between the participants, due to the fact that different people have different predictions about the number and quality of future proposals.

With the introduction of such mathematic model, system will allow you to select only the prize fund, and the prize money will be divided among the participants fairly, based on their proposlal ratings.

It will also make the system more automated and less subjective, which is certainly necessary in order to be as decentralized as possible, and to exclude all possible sources of potential corruption.

Motivation

For building a viable meritocratic society requires a fair and blind reward distribution model

To avoid unfair distribution of tokens, which may be unfairly small (as was the case in the sticker contest) or possible unfairly large.

Free Ton member @india writes:

currently contest prize distributions are just like a lottery prizes results discouraging average users to participate in contests .
So we need a more fair model for prize distribution so that total prize fund can be distributed among more users. Free TON community’s main motto is also to achieve decentralization in a more distributed way.

And also for better accuracy in awarding participants.
To be able to avoid the following situations:

  1. The difference in ratings between the participants is less than 0.1 and the reward differs by 2 times (or even more)
  2. One good proposal, and the rest of the participants submitted outright spam and received an award commensurate with the real winner.

And also the judges who vote last do not feel their influence on the distribution of winners, the new model should also prevent this moment.

General requirements:

Build a mathematical model for the distribution of rewards among participants, based on the ratings of their proposals

model input:
*the amount of money allocated for the contest
*rating of each of the proposal
model output:
*awards for every proposal

Evaluation criteria and winning conditions:

  • Should be easy to understand.
  • Explanation in text why it is good
  • 3 examples with screenshots from Excel
    -Normal case
-Proposals rating close to each other
    -Good proposals and spammers
  • Contact Information

Jury rewards:

An amount equal to 5% of the sum total of all total tokens actually awarded will be distributed equally between all jurors who vote and provide feedback. Both voting and feedback are mandatory in order to collect the reward.

Rewards:

1st prize…………………………15,000 Tons

2nd prize……………………….12,000 Tons

3rd prize………………………. 8,000 Tons

Next 7 runners up…………. 1500 Tons each
All proposals will receive juror feedback.

Or as an experiment, we can conduct the reward according to the winning model. While this is somewhat risky, it is fun and provides data on the applicability of the model.
I propose to make the prize fund equal to 50,000 if this method of reward will be chosen

Good proposal, but i think that prizes for such contest should be at least twice smaller.

good idea,already reduced
did not know what estimates would be adequate

I think that 20/10/5/1.5 is okay

20/10/6/1.5
let there be a small gift for 3rd place (+ 1k)

Hello. I would like to describe in more detail the essence of the problem and why the current situation does not suit.

I would add the existing prize distribution challenges that we face to the contest description. And also emphasize that the mathematical model should solve the below listed problems and provide answers to the following questions

Sorry, but at this stage it looks like a contest “for friends”. Can you tell us more about the issue and what exactly you expect to see as a result?

And why there is such a difference in prizes between 1st and 2nd place. And between the others? Is there already a hidden candidate for first place?)

to be honest, I didn’t know what to write in the “Rewards” section and just copied from the previous contests, decreasing in proportion

suggest how you see the distribution, and we can easily change

Hello, added more details to the description of the current problem.

It’s a little funny that even in the discussion of this competition the same problem arose

DGO Sub-governence?

Это надо @Mitja спросить

I think its a contest for DGO, yes. I also think it needs some more work but the general idea to algorythmize everything is good (I like it at least))

Cool, i think i will try to participate even though i doubt my skills will carry far, but one can try i suppose. And i am guessing that there isn’t any current model or existing guidelines applied in past proposals?

Total Prize Fund of a specific contest can be fairly distributed to all participants directly proportionate to their average ratings.
Rejected submissions gets nothing means also have resistance to unfair activities.

currently contest prize distributions are just like a lottery prizes results discouraging average users to participate in contests.

Yes, now there is no model, a discrete table is used, based on the predictions of the creator of the competition
Whether it is worth talking about the effectiveness of the system based on predictions, it always or more or insufficiently rewards the participants

You express the idea very accurately, can I use it in the description of the contest?
