I originally was all for this proposal, but reading Platon’s comments I am beginning to change my mind. He brings up some very valid points; for instance, we now know there is no “going back and fixing something”. A the same time, yes, this was a smart contract error and it sucks. No doubt about it. But like some others mentioned, if you were monitoring the vote cycle you would have noticed that the clock is running out earlier than expected. And yes, once again, that sucks. But then what about people who did make their submissions in time but weren’t able to finish them to completion for the very same reason? They didn’t make the top 20 either. Should they be compensated too? This will set a very poor precedent. I am torn on this one.

I see it from two sides.

Side one: The sign on the club door says we close at 4:00 AM on Saturdays. I come to the club Friday night and it’s already closed for the weekend. Huh. Meanwhile several people who came Thursday night were not let in because they had sneakers on and didn’t meet the dress code. Am I in the same category as them? Seemingly no. I may well have been dressed properly but it didn’t matter. The club was closed. Do I deserve something to compensate for my gas, wasted cologne and time?

Side two: Several people went to the website and saw that the club will be closed early due to some maintenance issue, so they decided to go Thursday instead of Friday in a rush. Because of that rush they couldn’t go out and buy a decent pair of shoes and took their chances with sneakers on, hoping they might still get in. Once again, it’s the club’s fault, but do they deserve something to?

And now here’s the kicker, if either or receive something, now the club has set a precedent from which it will never recover. If the club gives out free drinks to everyone every time it has a maintenance issue, it is no longer a business but a free drink machine. I guess at some point this may have to just be a “shit happens” moment and everyone has to live with the reality of imperfection.

Honestly I don’t know. Just thinking out loud.

I didn’t have a goal to get personal. I just want to convey that this is not the first time this situation has occurred, but since no one has dared to understand it before, why can’t we do it now? We offered various solutions to this problem and raised this issue at the free TON team call. We raised this issue and settled on paying a modest compensation of 1000 TON. You may not agree with us, it’s a fact that everyone doesn’t like it.

Good illustration! ) On the other hand, if the chef burned the steak, the guest is compensated (if he ask), isn’t it? But we’re not even guests. We are a team… Several times errors not in favor of participants “was ok” but this time it isn’t.

The main thing is to learn and to stop making mistakes. )

If this situation will happen again and a couple of beginners will be catched like we are today, so who can stop them to make Proposal trying to compensate their activity, their time?

Error catchers? How can you imagine it?
Look, you should make your work, publish it on contest forum, and not to submit it hoping for the error… looks at least logically strange.

The situation is more simple. It is just compensation for real error.

…Otherwise no one will stop the chef from burning steaks… )

And I think it is not bad idea to make a special foundation which is responsible for compensations due to errors.

But it’s another topic.

I think I have a solution to this dilemma!
Guys, publish your wallets. And let the 20 people who won the contest send you a donation from 1 to 100 crystals, depending on how they evaluate your work
Plus, other members of the community can send a donation) I may be one of them) Honestly, I haven’t seen your work yet
If your work is really cool, I think you will get more than you asked for… I think this is an appropriate compromise )

Why not? Good idea  Not sure that many people will participate ) but why not.
Do we need to make another Proposal for that ?)))

But may be first of all let’s wait for the voting decision of this Proposal!

When is it going to be ready??

Hi! I can confirm that I was participated this contest before deadline.

What next steps? How can we move it to voting?

Why should the participants of the smart contract be held responsible for the mistake of the contest organizers? The participants have nothing to do with it. I brought out a rosary topic with the disclosure of the problem and its solution. You can take a vote, but first determine the people who are interested in developing the free TON community. Without any preconceived notion. and solve this issue. Why not do this?

MIchael, have you got any info about voting on this Proposal??

Unfortunately, I have no news on the matter. Will try to chace during this week.

Unfortunately, and as much as it pains me to say it, these types of proposals need to be a thing of the past. Another lesson was learned recently when this style of “go back and fix the past with tokens” approach is simply incorrect.

As an example, because such a precedent was set with “Crypto Angels”, a lot of con artists started coming out of nowhere and asking for tokens in hindsight for doing things like leaving comments in this forum, or providing likes. I even left a comment saying something like, “Well I got out of bed today. Who’s going to pay me?” )))))

Now of course I realize this is apples and oranges, but the premise that an error from the past should be fixed by providing tokens in the future is simply wrong. If that was the case, I could draft a proposal for 1 million mistakes that were made and ask for compensation for each one. This can’t go on.

The reality is the world and life are imperfect. Mistakes happen. We have to live with them. Free TON as a community cannot be held responsible for what was a programming error. It just can’t.

So even though I sincerely feel terrible that this happened, and I empathize with everyone who was effected, it is simply life. Shit happens as they say. We need to move on and end this style of proposals in their entirety. It’s a path to chaos.

Yes. Honestly… I partly agree with you. But… We have different opinions at this topic.

Let’s just give a chance to this Proposal through voting! Why not?

Do we build a decentalisation on this way?

If the Community decide - no problem!

I know what you’re talking about. But this is your opinion, many may disagree with you.

That’s why we’re all here to take a vote and take into account the opinions of all participants, and not to close the issue based only on your vote. How can a decentralized community be like this if one person decides everything?

Why not arrange a vote? You have absolutely nothing to lose)

How about this. Can the two contestants (I assume you are one of them), show their/your work here?

As far I understand the countdown on gov website was showing actual deadline in smart contract. 61 people saw it and uploaded their submissions in time. I personally appreciate the work you done for this contest, but I think it will be fair if community will look at your submissions before making a decision.

Of course I can. I will attach my work and the work of other participants who did work before October 9, but did not get to the competition.
