Free TON Airdrop proposal
My proposal for the free TON distribution goes beyond just an airdrop. It is not the simplest way to distribute tokens, but optimizes for a fair and just distribution as this is critical for the longterm prospects of the whole project. This in turn will make the token valuable which is necessary for it to be useful. While the power of human greed and selfish actions can be used as a positive force in incentive design, I argue that the token will be even more useful and valuable if we choose to distribute it to people that earned it the most rather than people that want it the most.
Mass adoption can not be short cut via an equal distribution. Instead it follows if technical barriers are low and the coin is valuable and useful.
The case AGAINST equal distribution
For me the free in Free TON stands for freedom and not “for free” aka cheap/worthless.
Valuation of crypto coins/tokens is a psychologically tricky thing. Bitcoin is worth a lot in big part because it is expensive to mine. That’s the point of POW. If you could get Bitcoin for free, Bitcoins would also be likely worthless as is the case with so many Bitcoin clones that tried various forms of airdrops.
So while I think at first it sounds like an admirable goal to distribute TON equally to everybody, this might not be such a good idea as it might make TON worthless and therefore useless since nobody uses a worthless token.
The other strong argument I see against an attempt to do an equal distribution f.ex. amoung all telegram users is the technical side which has again a lot to do with the perceived value of the token at the time of the airdrop.
I expect way over 99% of humans and also telegram users will perceive TON as worthless as long as it is not traded on a free market. So most people are unlikely to invest any amount of time and effort or give up personal information to be included in an airdrop.
It was mentioned to keep the longterm goal of having 1 billion users in mind. But it does not make any sense to me to try to airdrop to even 10 million users, let alone 1 billion.
Imagine you would try to airdrop the whole referal giver amount to 10 million users. This would result in little over 500 TON per user on average. Most user would not even install a wallet to be included because they resonably would expect these 500 tokens to be worthless since they are given away for free. I found the various proposal by people running botnets quite insightful in this regard. I expect any airdrop that drops <100 TON per user to have the vast majority go to abusers.
So you would attract mostly click farms to collect the airdrop which would severly hurt the project. The ratio could easily be 100:1 bots:human unless bots can be excluded via measures mentioned in a number of proposals. These measures would reduce the amount of humans participating to a few thousand crypto enthusiasts which would receive a few thousand TON on average making it worthwhile for them to proof that they are not bots. This is possible, but I think we can do better or at least should limit the amount of TON distributed this way.
The case for value creation
Instead I suggest to distribute tokens in a way that they are exchanged for value.
Money is valued because you expect someone to be willing to work for money and create value in exchange for money.

This does not mean that you have to pay for TON. They could be given to you because you have created value in the past f.ex. by developing free software or offering free education online.
Or they could be promised to incentivise people to create value in the future. Especially public goods creating is often lacking a compensation.
We live in a world where creating value is not well incentivised compared to taking value f.ex. by printing free money/credit.
I imagine free TON to become a positive force in this world where value creation is incentived.
Therefore I am not interested in TON being given away for free and being promoted by multi level marketing techniques which are the same techniques employed by exclusively scammy crypto project in the past afaik. I dont want free TON to be associated with these projects.
My distribution proposal
I suggest to distribute the tokens into the following seven parts to different groups for different reasons. I left the amounts for each part open as this is not for me to decide, but for the community and validators.
In my view an airdrop for promoting the usage of free TON should only be a minor part of the referal giver balance.
I find it more important to create liquidity and stability for the token. Since this is beyond the scope of this contest I plan to write a proposal about this in the future.
1. part: bot excluding airdrop to highly involved participants
To me this is optional. Choose the best method of other proposals that will limit Coins gained by bots. I would prefer these coins to be airdroped not to the mainstream, but to people that are willing to go through measures that are not easy, but limit bot participation without the need to KYC and privacy breeches.
These kind of people will be more aligned with the TON vision than the mainstream.
I would expect this to be a few thousand people.
2. part: Ethereum Airdrop/Lockdrop:
TON was built upon the foundation laid out by Ethereum as the first smart contract platform. So it does make sense to distribute some TON to ETH holders. I also think it is beneficial for TON to engage as many people as possible from the Ethereum ecosystem.
For this to happen we need a two-way-bridge between Ethereum and TON. So we would create TON on Ethereum, an ERC-20 token that can be used to trade TON vs ETH or any other ERC-20 on any DEX on Ethereum. For every ERC-20 TON there is always a real TON locked on the TON-mainnet to create the 1:1 peg. For an airdrop to ETH holders, these ERC-20 TONs would be airdropped and can be swapped to mainnet TON as soon as a swap contract is deployed. note: It is not necessary for the swap contract to be live when the airdrop happens. ERC-20 TONs could be traded on Ethereum but not yet used for voting on TON. This could be beneficial because atm TON is controlled by validators with very small balances relative to total supply. So you might not want to enable the bridge until more TON is distributed, so that TON is not governed by ETH holders only. Before the swap contract is deployed ERC-20 TON and mainnet TON could still be exchanged OTC via trusted third parties or on centralized exchanges if people choose to do that. This is very similar to how many ICO tokens were traded as ERC-20 tokens before they could be swapped for mainnet tokens. The main difference is that only a fraction of the total supply is represented as an ERC-20 token.
This ERC-20 TON can also be used in a uniswap contract to create the first active trading market for TON to enable price discovery. I agree with the notion of not speculating about the price of TON. But having a free market speaks for itself and it would likely increase human participation in other airdrops.
As mentioned I have a follow up proposal with more details on this in the works.
I would suggest to have a minimum amount of ETH balance to be included in the airdrop and to scale it with an exponential function to benefit smaller balances over big balances.
My ETH-airdrop suggestion: Min 0.1 ETH, max 1000 ETH and scale exponentially
formula: Ton_received = sqrt[10*ETH_balance]
min_balance = 0.1 ETH -> smaller balances reiceives 0 Ton (dont spam dust balances)
0.1 ETH receives 1 Ton
10 ETH receives 10 Ton
1000 ETH receives 100 Ton
max_balance = 1000 ETH -> 100 TON is the max
ETH-Lockdrop: Anybody can choose to lock their ETH for a reasonable amount of time, f.ex. one month to receive 10 Ton per ETH locked instead of the airdrop amount (I would put a max 100m Ton total for this; so amounts would be reduced if >10m ETH locked were locked)
I have not done the math, how many TON would be airdropped in total via this method, but I would guess it is ~100m TON (=2% of supply plus up to 2% in the lockdrop) due to the topheavy distribution of ETH, so ~1 Ton per ETH on average.
The airdrop will obviously favor small ETH holders compared to whales. But also whales can get TON if they are interested enough to lock their ETH.
I would not expect a huge amount of ETH being locked. But also depends on how long the period would be.
The option to lock ETH will also make gaming the system less relevant. If you are eager to get the max out of this airdrop by splitting up you ETH into smaller chunks to receive more TON you can safe fees and hassle by choosing the lockdrop.
3. part: value creators in public goods
The community makes proposals which individuals made contributions to any public good which they want them to be compensated for. This could be f.ex. free software/open source developers in relevant areas for TON like blockchain, cryptography, Web3 or OS. This could be any individual or entity really that anybody want to reward because they created value in the form of a public goods which are usually not well compensated.
Now there is the obvious problem of how to decide who gets what. This can be very well solved with quadratic voting.
Possible process:
a) Anybody can propose any person/entity by making a post in the forum with a description and submitting a SMV to the blockchain.
b) I would choose a voting mechanism similar to SMV, but with differences to reflect that negative votes should have a more drastic effect.
5% minimum votes required and less than 20% of casted votes be negative.
→ I would want there to be a high consensus to choose applicants. This will weed out applications with people that do not fit the profile.
c) every applicant that was voted in needs to KYC, sign the DOD and provide a TON-address. Otherwise they are discarded from the distribution vote.
d) every 3 month there is the distribution vote where a certain amount of TONs are distributed according to a quadratic voting algorithm.
I would expect a high rate of participation of validators for this.
e) TONs are distributed and might be vested.
I would split this in votes one vote for past contributions and then votes for future grants every 3 month.
Now imagine f.ex. giving say 100k TON to sombody that wrote code for Linux in the last decades.
Someone might ask: “Why give coins to her? She is not part of the TON project.”
My answer: This girl helped create free software which is essential to running TON nodes now. She created value probably without expecting anything or little in return. I want to be part of a community that recognizes this! I also would like to interest this developer to look into TON.
And since this is a reward for years of value creation I find it likely that this person is valuing the given tokens much more highly than a person that got them for free because he advertised them to his 100k followers.
The developer earned them eventhough she never expected them in return for her works. This nevertheless makes them valuable to her and she might be grateful for this gift.
I find it particularily valueable for our project to interest other blockchain developers in TON. That is why I would like to gift them TONs. Core developers that did not choose to work for a scammy ICO are oftentimes undercompensated. Giving them TONs can be a Win:Win situation.
4. part: free education
This part is not easy to implement, but I would love to see TON incentivising free education and demonstrate how it is different to other blockchain projects.
The idea is to reward people that offer free online education in 1:1 or 1:N videochats/groupchats. As soon as telegram is offering videochats this could even be done within the telegram app.
Another option would be to work together with existing E-Learning environments.
This way of airdrop includes almost everyone because everybody can add value to the world by educating somebody else.
Teachers would upload a description about what they teach and update available timeslots. Anybody can book the service and would also receive a small amount of TON for writing a review. Teachers get paid by free TON (pun intended). They receive valueable Coins for creating value.
The rewards per hour should slightly increase the more hours a teacher is teaching in total. Bot abuse is relatively easy to stop as video is exchanged. This could be done via an AI or a network of humans that check the first lesson for every teacher and randomly sample check thereafter.
Another way to stop bots from abuse would be to charge students a small amount of TON for the lesson and subsidize the bigger part.
If you dont want to buy TON, you can simply start by teaching somebody!
Teachers would have the option to charge for their service if they want to charge more. This would have to be paid by the student.
I would be willing to put more research into this topic if it is considered a serious option.
5. part: gamers
While gamers dont create value in a similar manner to the other groups, I view the gaming market as a great market to get access to early adopters. This group also has very few overlaps with the other parts I proposed.
For many different popular games there could be coins given away based on performance in tournaments and leaderboards. This would create a lot of (social) media attention to TON.
Games which include ingame items make the most sense for blockchain integration.
The coins should be awarded only to the top players in their field, where bots can not compete with humans to prevent abuse of the giveaway. These players play their game many hours a day and they likely would view a compensation in TON as a reward they earned and something valuable. These top players also often have many followers. Owning TON would incentivised them to promote the use of TON to their followers.
Deals with gaming networks could be made to award more TONs in their games if they integrate with the TON network. They could also airdrop small amounts of TON to their KYCed customers base.
I think TONs given away like this would likely be used for ingame purchases and trading of ingame items.
6. part: corporate partnerships
Give away coins to certain companies to incentivise them to accept TON as a payment method. This idea was suggested in good form allready by other contest participants. So I will keep this short.
The gamers market is again a very good example of such an corporate partnership because gamers are more likely than other customers to adopt and use TONs for various purposes. Customers of a big retail networks might view them more like bonus points, which they want to get rid off. This would result in less adoption and more downward price pressure as most coins will end up being sold for fiat.
I think it would be better to give away TON as a bonus for every purchase instead of giving a discount if you pay with TON because it will make it more likely for customers to keep TON and use them for other purposes. Giving a discount will mostly create friction.
7. part: influencers that create value
This groups has quite some overlap with the value creators, but usually has more followers.
I would also give away Coins to podcasters, investigative journalists, independant researcher, musicians and artists in a similar process to part 2 so that they are consitent with the vision of free TON.
We should be careful to choose what kind of persons we choose as this defines the project.
I find it important that there are no strings attached. TONs are given away because these people create value and not because we want to pay them to advertise.
Disclosure: This proposal is not designed to maximize my personal gains. I am only included in the 1. part and to a relatively small amount in the 2. part.

My Proposal :
- While Filling DOD on freeton website use captcha, browser cache and other techniques to make it harder for some bot to fill the form.
- After Signing the DOD - A 12 digit alphanumeric coupon code is generated in the backend for the user, and store it along with telegram username or email in the freeton database
- Show first 6 digits to the user after they sign the DOD, so that he/she can copy it and keep it.
- Give remaining 6 digits in the group using bots or in a PDF on daily basis, like all users who signed DOD within 24 hours 1 pad with all their usernames along with their remaining 6 digits codes will be shared in the groups.
- The person who joined the group and signed DOD can get full 12 digit coupon code and can redeem it for crystals.

I think a good way to spread TON and Telegram usability is to permit people to pay through the telegram APP as WeChat do in China.
So basically one user to get airdrop must:
1- Sign the declaration and subscribe TON groups to stay Updated.
2- Giveaways to telegram users can have 2 positive side:

Captcha - two series of small images - one is right and another is wrong. The right one is one that represents a short meaningfull story.
Short captcha validation session - a short session (2-5 mins) which starts in *exactly same time for ALL users, so no one person can complete this session twice simultenosly.
Long captcha validation session - a long session (10-20 mins) which starts immediately after a short validation session. During this long session users are checking each others captchas.
Captcha submission - each user must submit some number of created by him captchas to the smartcontract to be able to continue to get tons in next validation sessions.
Mechanics:
Registration:
Firstly new user must sign DOD, register in telegram groups and install freeTON wallet and connect to the network and get wallet address.
After this new user must get invite from some user that already registered in this smartcontract by giving him their telegram ID and freeTON wallet address.
The user who gived an invite must call smartcontract method with telegram id and wallet address of a new user.
Smartcontract checks that this telegram id is not already registered and that telegram user id are in needed telegram groups and that there is a signature of DOD linked with user telegram ID.
If this is true then smartcontract initiates new user wallet ID with some VERY small amount sufficient to do short and long validation session and to do submission of new captchas created by this user so user will not benefit much from only registering in the airdrop smartcontract.
Validation sessions:
After registration the new user must proove that he is not a bot.
To do this he must complete the short and the long session. Say that if user solves more than 80% of captchas then he is a human. These sessions MUST start at same time for all users (1 in a hour, in a day in a week, etc…) so one user will be physically able to complete only one validation. After completing validation sessions user gets some amount of tons.
To continue to receive airdrop’s tons user must create new captchas that will be verified by other users in next long validation session.
These captchas are stored inside smart contract and will be verified in the next long session by all registered users.
Captchas will be accepted as good captchas if the majority of users in the long session selects right answer.
Users whos captchas are not selected by a majority will get a some sort of penalty.
Invitation:
Each user that passed validation sessions is able to invite other users.
For each invite user also will receive some amount of tons.
User can register only one new user after each validation session. So if he didn’t register someone in this validation epoch, then this invitaion is burnt, so no one will be able to collect invitations.
So in simple to receive tons a user must:
sign DOD and join to TG groups -> install wallet -> get invite from existing user -> solve captchas -> create new good captchas -> invite someone
but all of these are controlled through a smartcontract and captchas are checked by users themselves and one user can physically complete only one validation.
Benefits of such airdrop mechanics:
- To do a bot farm in this system you must hire real people for a long time to get something. With proper tuned amount of tons (with math models, etc) gived by every validation session you can control profitability of such bot farms and make them non profitable at all.
- No bots - users must create their own captchas which are then verified by allready registered users.
- Users are anonymous.
- Network effect (for each invite that user gives he receives some amount of ton).
- This campaign may exist very long time to smoothly get new users.
- Network will be utilized. With the growing number of users there will be more and more transactions for validation sessions, submitting captchas, etc. in the freeTON network itself, and these numbers maybe used for promoting the network.
- Strong involvement of users into the process - creating captchas, solving them on the blockchain, inviting new members.
- Integrating this airdrop captcha system as a service into other projects to proof by your public key that you are a human.

The mechanics of the method.
Excluding fake accounts is impossible without linking them to personal parameters of a person. There are 2 options:
- Scanning a person’s face (there may be problems, according to statistics there are people with the same facial features).
- Scanning of a person’s fingerprint (as the most accurate one for identification)
The first method can be implemented by scanning the user’s face with the device’s camera. The second method should be implemented by scanning all fingers on a person’s hands (otherwise a separate fake account can be created for each finger) also with the help of the device camera (it will simplify the procedure of having a fingerprint scanner on a mobile device based on Android and Ios operating systems).
If a user wants to register a fake account and gets a match with a fingerprint or a face that is already in the network database, the account is blocked. It is possible to combine the use of a facial scanner with a fingerprint
How will that work?
Stage 1: the user signs a declaration on decentralization at https://freeton.org/dod.
Step 2: download the wallet to your device (the download link is sent to the email address specified by the user when signing the declaration of decentralization)
Stage 3: after installation and at opening the program should obligatory demand input of the e-mail address (it should coincide with the e-mail address specified in the declaration) and the account in Telegramm (if it is present).
Step 4: a mandatory further condition is the scanning of the face or fingerprints on the hands (a combined method can be used).
Step 5: after the 4th step, the user is identified as unique and the wallet address is generated.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that conditions for subscription in groups Telegram: Contact @TONCRYSTAL and Telegram: Contact @ton_crystal_news should not be mandatory. Telegramm is not used by all people and it severely limits the audience. The mechanism of user identification and distribution of tokens should take place without binding to Telegramm.
The distribution should be honest, fair, transparent and creative.
