Concept
And we are already implementing it.
Evo (or Evolution) - an independent, self-sustaining fund and system of workgroups focused on PR, community, partnerships, and other non-technical activities aimed at the development of FreeTON, funded by specific community members.
Evo attracts funds to a special DePool, the awards from which are directed to finance projects and initiatives of the foundation and other community members; also, funding comes through the Evo’s working groups participation in competitions, contests, and other FreeTON initiatives, as well as through partnership programs, etc.
Evo’s goals
- coordinated, consistent and non-speculative stimulation of medium and long-term growth in the value (rate) of TON Crystal;
- increased demand for TON Crystal;
- ensuring the profitability of Evo DePool participants due to the growth of the TON Crystal rate, the implementation of projects, initiatives, and other methods.
Evo’s ways of achieving these goals are concentrated in working with the internal FreeTON community, external communities, PR and communications, partnerships, and other predominantly non-technological areas.
TL; DR
A workgroup (future groups) funded by the community. We are engaged in PR, promotion, partnerships, achieving practical results, and market goals determine tasks.
Financial model
1. Evo DePool
Current status (11 / 23-11 / 25)
Signed by 410’000 TON Crystals from four participants. The names will not be disclosed until explicit approval to disclose their identities has been obtained from the stakeholders
- 250’000 - one of the initial members
- 100’000 - one of the FreeTON partners
- 50’000 Fedor Skuratov (Combot, A&S SubGov)
- 10’000 - one of the workgroup members
Milestones:
- 500’000 TON Crystals - 11/30/2020
- 1’000’000 - 31/12/2020
- 5’000’000 -31/03/2021
- 10’000’000 - 31/06/2021
- 25’000’000 - 31/09/2021
- 50’000’000 - 31/12/2021
10% of validation rewards distributes among the stakeholders accordingly to the share of their stakes;
20% of awards for validation returned to the pool as the Evo team steak for a future release to self-sufficiency;
70% goes to Evo groups’ initiatives and projects and finance other projects of the FreeTON community.
Participation in Evo DePool is free, starting from 1’000 TON Crystals. After the funds arrive in the steak, a lock-period is imposed on them, depending on the steak’s size, during which they cannot be withdrawn back. Lockdown is needed to inflate the steak management until it is implemented through a smart contract.
- 1000 - 10’000 - 4 months
- 10’000 - 100’000 - 2 months
- From 100’000 - 1 month.
After this period, each pool member can freely withdraw their funds in whole or in part.
Thus, the financing of the fund is directly tied to the trust of specific DePool participants, who are at the same time a source of funds for the functioning of the Evo Project, its inspectors, stakeholders, and investors - you can call it whatever you like. Not an abstract community, but concrete people who have invested specific funds to achieve specific goals.
DePool is also replenished with part of the crystals or other assets that the working groups receive through joint participation (not as individuals, but as the Evo workgroup) in other competitions or initiatives, including those with funding from the main Governance. 20% of the rewards are put into dePool as Evo steak.
This model does not imply a large increase in the number of tokens at the disposal of stakeholders. Instead, the fund focuses on activities that directly contribute to the token’s growth rate, thus increasing stakeholder assets’ value.
Participation in dePool can thus be described as a medium and long-term investment, however, with the free withdrawal of funds, which ensures full control of stakeholders in the person of any community member who directly expresses their trust or distrust of the fund’s activities.
The key risk to this model is the small validation reward. With a validation yield of around 20% per annum, with a total stake of 1,000,000 tokens, the monthly pool income (and the corresponding fund funding) will be only ~ 16,000 crystals. It is for this reason that Evolution is directly interested both in attracting additional funds to DePool and in the growth of the token rate and the development of the entire FreeTON project.
2. Contests
The Evolution team can act as participants in contests held in FreeTON, preparing their proposals jointly, as part of a working group.
80% of the rewards are distributed among the team members who took part in the preparation, 20% goes to DePool as the team’s own steak. Individual awards of participants for work performed personally can be placed in the pool voluntarily, at their request, on their own behalf. In this case, they also become stakeholders.
3. Evo’s own steak
Evo steak is replenished with 20% of validation rewards and 20% of rewards for contests and other FreeTON initiatives carried out by the Evo workgroups.
4. Subsidy to DePool from Main Governance
With all the shortcomings of the existing allocation of funds in Main Governance, we are considering the possibility of attracting a subsidy to DePool for a period of 1 year from this source.
The subsidy can be received in the form of a refundable or renewable steak in the Evolution DePool. The subsidy can be claimed or extended depending on the Main Governance’s decision after 1 year of the project’s operation.
TL; DR
We earn on awards, contests, and other things; we reinvest part of it, we start up the main part for development. The more funds there are in the depot, the more funds for development and useful initiatives. The longer the Evo DePool exists, the larger the stake of the fund itself, which in the future (in theory) will make it possible to switch to independent functioning, reduce dependence on stakeholders and even pay dividends (in the bright future).
Existing issues of work in FreeTON
A significant part of the community’s activity is centered around how to get funding from the main Governance. Tokens from the distributed reserve, de facto, do not cost anything and are taken “out of thin air.” Also, the problem arises that the initial members’ group de facto is financing, while accountability and transparency are trying to be laid as if the whole community participates in decisions and funds are also allocated by everyone. and there is talk of transparency, accountability, and openness to the abstract community.
This strongly resembles government funding, if not in form, then in spirit. Projects are at the financial crane waiting for awards for competitions and subsidies to create sub-governance, taken from abstract funds (moreover, these are not taxpayers’ funds, they are simply issued). When they end, few people think about creating self-sustaining initiatives in the development of FreeTON, if anyone says, then in a very future time.
Taken together, this leads to the building of a “grant” system, where the criteria for granting is the satisfaction of a specific group of persons who “represent” the entire community de jure. Still, de facto, they are a kind of donor. Even though some call it contests, this does not negate the grant nature of what is happening - contests are also held for grants. This would not be a problem if the allocated funds were worth something other than the cost of maintaining the nodes and belonged to this group. But they are simply issued out of thin air (which means that they do not even contain the nodes, in fact, these are funds that were once invested in / or initial members). There is a task to "distribute,” preferably - effectively.
It leads to a situation of “utilization” of the budget, the ineffectiveness of its allocation, and, most importantly, to budgeting’s centralization.
Although logically, in the future (or present), part of the funds should be distributed by SubGovernance, they also distribute abstract tokens. The source is still Governance / initial members; the allocated funds are still “state” (sorry for such a comparison with offline).
We do not think that this system is bad, that it is ineffective, and requires immediate rework. Instead of changing it, we propose (and create) an alternative center. Our deep conviction that decentralization begins not with structures, procedures, and decision-making but with funding.
TL; DR
Now FreeTON has one de facto funding center with the corresponding centralization. We need more centers with their own funding.
Workflow
Evo Project is primarily a team that doing projects together. It can be considered a separate SubGovernance, not limited to any particular area, not receiving direct funding from the main Governance or any other SubGovernance, and accountable only to the project’s stakeholders.
The work is carried out non-publicly; there are no chats open to the whole world, no reporting on the forum, and other requirements imposed by ( rather as one of the first traditions than rules) to the activities of SubGovernance. We report in the same way and in the form that our stakeholders need. Chatting means chatting. No need to report - we do not report.
The key mechanism that regulates our work is the direct financial influence of stakeholders. If they are unhappy, we feel bad. If the rate grows, we are good; stakeholders and ourselves are satisfied. Of course, we understand that a thousand factors and parameters will affect the rate, and we cannot assume the role of market makers. In this case, the project’s effectiveness is determined solely by how satisfied the stakeholders are and how much they believe that our projects are useful and contribute to the system’s development.
Thus, we are accountable not to the community "in general” but specific people - both in form and in essence, without the abstract values of an indefinite circle of people.
Theses and values
- We do things fast
- Decisions are made by ⅔ of Yes votes.
- Only the workgroup votes (no jury, no stakeholders, no debates with thousands of people).
- We work alone, in pairs, in triplets, whatever.
- Efficiency comes first.
- Less talk - more action. We do not need to coordinate our activities and seek approval from abstract people.
- Decisions are made within the working group.
- The main working group is no more than 10 people.
- No compulsory contests, proposals, forum battles, and other things. Invented - discussed inside - we do it. Or come up with it - did it.
- Stakeholders do not interfere with the processes. If you want to take part in the work, please.
- We use the methods of work and management that are convenient for us. We do not need votes, contests, proposals, procedures, even smart contracts for quick decisions and actions. Normal working group methods, no blockchain games where it is not needed. Where it is convenient, you can use it (for example, in the work of dePool).
Community projects
We can (and will, over time) act as an alternative funding center for community initiatives. We do not exclude the possibility that we will act as organizers of competitions with funding both from the foundation’s own funds and help such initiatives of other community members, partners, etc. Everything is limited only by the source and the number of funds raised for this.
Internationality
We do not do mixed working groups. Instead of driving people who speak bad English into a common frame, we work with homogeneous participants with the same language composition; otherwise, we end up in a mess.
Internationalization is provided differently. As stakeholders from outside the Russian-speaking segment appear and as competent, adequate, and effective people who want to launch their own workgroup as part of Evo emerge, we collect a separate DePool, in which the corresponding group collects funds both with the help of other workgroups and independently. 5% of the awards from this DePool go to the main DePool and the Evo Steak, 15% remains with the National Workgroup. Besides, the main DePool can provide this subDePool with a separate subsidy as start-up capital.
TL; DR
We work independently; we don’t bother with bureaucracy. We work in a small group without inflating either the number of participants or the composition. We start with a Russian-speaking group and a Russian-speaking DePool; as we grow (if everything is ok), we scale with national groups. Closed to non-stakeholders, not accountable to the abstract community and any governance.

Our goal
Gather interested stakeholders and those who are ready to finance the creation of our project. We have enough funds to start, but the more we attract now, the faster and better we can do.
What you can do right now
- Sign up for participation in DePool with a steak from 1,000 crystals.
- Suggest changes and additions to the concept.
- Ask a question that we did not highlight in the initiative’s description - this will go to the FAQ.
